This calendar will provide dates and links for students to reference throughout the year.

Supporting Officer Applications

All Supporting Officers will be required to attend the Presiding Officer and Supporting Officer training, held February 7-9, 2020 at Camp Wewa.

Executive Branch Application - Due October 2nd, 2019

  • Agency and Department Heads will serve under the Chief of Staff to become experts in the issues facing their department.
  • They will prepare issue briefs to provide to Cabinet Officials and the Legislature.
  • They will advocate on behalf of bills their department is supporting.
  • They will be able to testify in committees on relevant issues.
  • They will host office hours to provide expert advice to the cabinet and legislature.

Legislative Affairs Director Application - Due October 2nd, 2019

  • LADs will work under their Assigned cabinet official.
  • They will prepare issue briefs on their office’s priorities.
  • They will work with Legislative Whips to pass priority legislation.
  • They will be able to testify in committees on relevant issues.
  • They will host office hours to provide expert advice to the cabinet and legislature.

Legislative Whip Application - Due October 2nd, 2019

  • Whips will work with the Presiding Officer of their assigned chamber.
  • They will create talking points and a messaging plan for chamber priorities.
  • They will work with LADs to pass priority legislation.
  • They will work with members to ensure lively debate.

Williams Rules Chair Application - Due October 2nd, 2019

  • A Rules Chair will be assigned to each Williams Chamber.
  • They will oversee the committee process.
  • They will be the lead expert on procedure and serve as a resource for the chamber.
  • They will provide docketing recommendations.
  • They will work with the other Rules Chair to ensure bills are moving between Chambers.

Associate Justice Application - Due October 2nd, 2019

  • Associate Justices will serve on the Supreme Court Bench.
  • They will be responsible for reviewing each case and creating questions for deliberation.
  • They will work with the Chief Justice and Senior Justice to create Kooky Cases.

Committee Chair/Clerk Application - Due December 4th, 2019

  • Committee Chairs will serve in an assigned chamber.
  • Chairs will be the experts in committee procedure.
  • Chairs will manage the timing, presentation, and ranking of bills throughout the committee process.
  • Committee Clerks will be assigned to assist a Committee Chair.
  • Clerks will keep time, process ranking, and preside in the absence of the chair.

Year-Round Programs Applications

High School Mentor Application - Due December 4th, 2019

  • HSM will serve as mentors at the Jr. Assembly February 27th-March 1st. The cost of this assembly is $195 for High School Mentors.
  • They will attend training calls leading up to the event.
  • Delegates must be in 10th grade or higher and be in their 2nd or higher program year.
  • They will serve in a variety of roles at the Assembly, including Committee Chair, Villa Lead, Mando-Fun Captain, and more!

Youth Advocate Program Application - Due December 4th, 2019

  • Applicants need to be able to attend Children’s Week in Tallahassee January 25th-29th
  • Youth Advocates will join YMCA CEOs, Volunteers, and staff to take part on the 2020 YMCA Advocacy Days during the Legislative Session in Tallahassee. The cost of this trip is $100 for Youth Advocates.
  • Youth Advocates will participate in a number of Children’s’ Week activities, including their Teen Town Hall event in partnership with Florida YMCA Youth In Government.

Conference on National Affairs Application - Due February 19th, 2020

  • The Conference on National Affairs will be held June 25th-July 3rd at Blue Ridge Assembly in North Carolina. The trip costs $1000 (scholarships are available).
  • Each member of the delegation will be responsible for writing a proposal focusing on a national or international issue. Proposals will go through a committee process at the conference.
  • CONA provides delegates the opportunity to meet delegates from across the country, debate important issues, and develop their leadership skills.

Y-Corps Team Lead Application - Due February 19th, 2020

  • Y-Corps is a service trip around the state of Florida held July 26th-August 1 The trip costs $125 for Team Leads (scholarships are available).
  • Delegates must be in their 11th or 12th grade to apply for a Y-Corps Team Lead.
  • Team leads serve as mentors for the corps and be assigned a group of delegates to oversee throughout the week.
  • They will manage different projects throughout the trip.

Y-Corps Delegate Application - Due February 19th, 2020

  • Y-Corps is a service trip around the state of Florida held July 26th-August 1st. The trip costs $495 for delegates (scholarships are available).
  • Delegates must be in their 8th or 9th grade to apply for a Y-Corps Delegate.
  • Delegates will work together to complete service project in communities throughout the state.

National Judicial Competition Application - Due February 19th, 2020

  • NJC is a Judicial Appellate and Mock Trial Competition held in Chicago July 27th-July 31st. The trip costs $1200 (scholarships are available).
