Supporting Officer Applications

If selected, Supporting Officers must pay a $65 Year-Round Programming Fee to cover virtual trainings OR submit a scholarship form. Applicants must commit to attending year-round virtual trainings and obtain an excuse from the State Office if conflicts arise. Delegates must be listed on their Chapter’s roster in order to apply.

Executive Branch Application - EXTENDED - Due Tuesday, October 27th, 2020

  • Agency and Department Heads will serve under the Chief of Staff to become experts in the issues facing their department.
  • They will prepare issue briefs to provide to Cabinet Officials and the Legislature.
  • They will advocate on behalf of bills their department is supporting.
  • They will be able to testify in committees on relevant issues.
  • They will host office hours to provide expert advice to the cabinet and legislature.

Legislative Affairs Director Application - EXTENDED - Due Tuesday, October 27th, 2020

  • Legislative Affairs Directors will work under their assigned cabinet official.
  • They will prepare issue briefs on their office’s priorities.
  • They will work with Legislative Whips to pass priority legislation.
  • They will be able to testify in committees on relevant issues.
  • They will host office hours to provide expert advice to the cabinet and legislature.

Press Secretary Application - Due Tuesday, October 20th, 2020

  • The Press Secretary will work with the Executive Program Area.
  • They will develop, manage, and organize communications activities including:
    • Scheduling press conferences
    • Writing press releases
    • Using digital and social media to advance the initiatives of the branch

Legislative Whip Application - Due Tuesday, October 20th, 2020

  • Whips will work with the Presiding Officer of their assigned chamber.
  • They will create talking points and a messaging plan for chamber priorities.
  • They will work with LADs to pass priority legislation.
  • They will work with members to ensure lively debate.

Williams Rules Chair Application - Due Tuesday, October 20th, 2020

  • A Rules Chair will be assigned to each Williams Chamber.
  • They will oversee the committee process.
  • They will be the lead expert on procedure and serve as a resource for the chamber.
  • They will provide docketing recommendations.
  • They will work with the other Rules Chair to ensure bills are moving between Chambers.

Associate Justice Application - Due Tuesday, October 20th, 2020

  • Associate Justices will serve on the Supreme Court Bench.
  • They will be responsible for reviewing each case and creating questions for deliberation.
  • They will work with the Chief Justice and Senior Justice to create Kooky Cases.

Committee Chair/Clerk Application - Due Tuesday, January 19th, 2021

  • Committee Chairs will serve in an assigned chamber.
  • Chairs will be the experts in committee procedure.
  • Chairs will manage the timing, presentation, and ranking of bills throughout the committee process.
  • Committee Clerks will be assigned to assist a Committee Chair.
  • Clerks will keep time, process ranking, and preside in the absence of the chair.

Year-Round Programs Applications

Legislative Oversight Program Application - Due Tuesday, January 19th, 2021

  • This program will take place during our 64th State Assembly and all participants must participate in the assembly.
  • Applicants must commit to completing any prep work or virtual training prior to the event.

High School Mentor Application - Due Tuesday, January 19th, 2021

  • HSM will serve as mentors at the Jr. Assembly April 16th - 18th. The cost of this assembly is $200 for High School Mentors.
  • They will attend training calls leading up to the event.
  • Delegates must be in 10th grade or higher and be in their 2nd or higher program year.
  • They will serve in a variety of roles at the Assembly, including Committee Chair, Cabin Lead, Mando-Fun Captain, and more!

Youth Advocate Program Application - Due Tuesday, January 19th, 2021

  • Applicants need to be able to attend YMCA Youth Advocacy Days trip to Tallahassee (Final Dates TBA - During the Legislative Session in March/April 2021). 
  • Youth Advocates will join YMCA CEOs, Volunteers, and staff to take part on the 2021 YMCA Advocacy Days during the Legislative Session in Tallahassee. The cost of this trip is $150 for Youth Advocates.
  • Youth Advocates will participate in a number of activities, including meetings with their state senators and representatives. 

Y-Corps Application - Due Tuesday, January 19th, 2021

  • Y-Corps is a semester-long virtual program that teaches service learning and project management skills in order to plan their own projects or fulfill service requirements. Students meet via Zoom for monthly seminars and weekly team meetings.
  • Participants will have the opportunity to register for Y-Corps: Service In the Sunshine, which is a week-long service trip around the state of Florida held Summer 2021. Attendees will work together to complete service projects in communities throughout the state.
  • Delegates must pay a registration fee of $100 or complete a scholarship form.
