Student YMCA
Middle School (Jr. YIG)
Much like their high school counterparts, Jr. YIG’s middle school delegates form local chapters affiliated with their local YMCA branch.
6th, 7th, & 8th grade students who are part of a Jr. YIG Chapter may attend a regional Jr. Assembly.
Jr. YIG chapters are currently set-up at select YMCAs and middle schools across the state. These chapters may be a part of a Sr. YIG chapter or exist on their own.
At the YMCA Jr. Assembly, we make learning about civic engagement a blast! Our immersive one-day event offers an engaging model government legislative experience designed just for you.
Here's what's in store: Young leaders come together to debate exciting ideas (not people), and they get to see how positive change can happen right before their eyes.
But that's not all! During this action-packed day, you'll build friendships that last a lifetime, engage in debates that spark your creativity, and dive headfirst into the heart of civic engagement. It's like stepping into a real-life civics adventure where you get to be the hero!
Imagine getting hands-on experience in the democratic process, sharing your unique perspectives, and working with new friends to solve real-world challenges. It's the perfect mix of fun and learning.
The YMCA Jr. Assembly is where we plant the seeds of leadership, where learning about policy becomes a thrilling adventure, and where the spirit of community is front and center. Join us in this exciting journey and become a part of a youth-led movement that's shaping the future of our amazing state.
Florida YMCA Youth in Government can also build right into Florida Civics and Government Standards.
